Chief Maritime - Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG)
Dr Szabo is Chief Maritime in the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG).
Dr Szabo has been employed by the Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group of the Australian Department of Defence for almost 30 years. For the bulk of this time he has conducted research in the fields of Electronic Warfare and Information Warfare, and has made significant contributions to Electronic Attack, Electronic Protection and Electronic Surveillance S&T at DSTG.
In this role, he is responsible for delivery of the maritime innovation, science and technology program, in partnership with Navy and CASG, and drawing on capabilities from DSTG's capability divisions and the broader innovation, science and technology enterprise to deliver S&T impact at scale. He has also led the Information warfare STaR Shot and the Quantum Technologies Theme of the Next Generation Technologies program.
He is a Board Member of the Australian Chapter of the Association of Old Crows. His research interests include information warfare, quantum technologies, adaptive and cognitive EW, RF signal processing and the application of model based design techniques to the development of IW systems and synthetic environment.
